Lowe was with this group at Langley, VA and Muroc, CA and went with the Air Echelon to Hickam Field, Hawaii. At Hickam, he was delayed while the last B-26s were being reassembled.

Then the Battle of Midway!

Lowe was one who was excess for Midway, but had been intimate with most of the two 22nd BG crews and tells in moderate detail the story that was told to him by the returning survivors on June 6, 1942

Lowe was transferred to the 98th Squadron, and eventually accepted for the Aviation Cadet program and returned to the states. He continued his diary through graduation from Primary sometime in the spring of 1943.

Amongst the Xeroxes of the diary was also a letter from Lowe, circa 1992, that detailed the formation of the crews that manned the 2 Marauders from the 22nd Group that participated in the Midway Mission, June 4, 1942.

According to accompanying letters that came with this diary, it was received via a rather circuitous route. Charles Lowe sent a Xerox copy of all pages to J. Parke Keith. Keith in turn copied John O. Moench, and Moench copied Richard P. Ellinger who scanned the Xeroxes of the diary.
