The group went to Coesfeld today for its third mission in two days to bomb a communication center there. Flak was moderate and accurate. It was supposed to be Pathfinder but turned visual. Jack Barnham was killed by a piece of flak. The S- 2 comment (on the mission) was "liquidated".

Today waa number 8 for me. We made a raid on Coe~feld. We started off at 07:05. We climbed to allitude and formed. It waa a really early ~tarL We formed and headed for the I.P. I crawled to the tail and found out my tail guna were nof working. We worked on them for one hour and finally got them to work. our fighter rendezvoua waa at 08:44. We hit the bomb line in at 08:56. We caught flak on the bomb line and it was moderate accurate. We hit the target at 09:25 and dropped on the fir~ run. I ~aw the rocke~ the Germans ~ent up at a bunch of heavies up ahead. They sure looked harmle~ l;o. We made our [urn and I ~aw l;he town in ~moking ruina.
